There aren't enough healthy running backs for the 49ers
Ty Davis-Price, a third-round pick who sustained a high ankle sprain in Sunday's victory over the Seahawks, will be out for "a few weeks," according to head coach Kyle Shanahan, who made the announcement on Monday. As Jeff Wilson's backup in a backfield without Elijah Mitchell after the latter went on injured reserve last week, Davis-Price rushed 14 times for 33 yards.
Wilson and Jordan Mason
Wilson and Jordan Mason are the only other running backs on the active roster, and according to Shanahan, the undrafted rookie will need to step up to cover for the injured players.
Shanahan stated, according to 49ersWebzone.com, "He needs to immediately." Last week was his first week receiving significantly more of that, and I believed both he and Ty improved in that regard.
On the practice squad of the 49ers is Marlon Mack, a former Colt, who might get a promotion before Sunday night's game against the Broncos.
