Because of a torn meniscus, Bubba Watson will be out for at least a month.
On Monday, the 12-time PGA Tour winner announced on Instagram that he had sustained a torn meniscus and would serve 4-6 weeks recovering. He withdrew from this week’s Charles Schwab ready and gave challenge and will probably be out of commission until after the U.S. Open.
“I’ve been surviving some knee issues, and I’m disappointed to say I have to pull out of the Charles Schwab Challenge this week. My doctors have confirmed that I have a torn meniscus,” he wrote. “We’re taking the best treatment options, but it’s looking like a 4-6 week recovery before I can get back to playing.”
Last week at Southern Hills, Watson finished T30 at the PGA Championship.
“I’ve had many issues over the last couple of years; I Had a lot of complicated plasma therapy done on my wrist, PRP done on my knees. I’ve had a lot of problems.
He has two top 25 finishes at the New Orleans and the Phoenix Open this season. His last memorable win came at the Travelers Championship, which ranked his 3rd win in the event. Watson was currently No. 69 in the Official Golf Rankings in 2018.
Returning in time for the British Open in mid-July would be a good goal, assuming his recovery goes well.
