Von Miller will return to the field
In his first game with the Bills, pass rusher Von Miller will return to the field where he won the Super Bowl while playing for the Rams. Miller talked extensively about his defensive philosophy with Katherine Fitzgerald of the Buffalo News before starting his career with a third NFL franchise.
Fitzgerald
Miller told Fitzgerald, "I honestly feel like I'm on offence. " He approaches it from a position of offence. "Whenever I'm rushing, I feel like I'm on offence and the offensive lineman is on defence. He's attempting to prevent me from approaching the quarterback. Getting the quarterback in is my score.
Miller employs a wide range of strategies and methods to do it
Miller stated, "I can get there in various ways." He is attempting to stop me, too. Even though I'm trying to defend myself, I'm not trying to stop him. And I'm just trying to do everything it takes to get there, including spin, dip, rip, bullrush, shock and shed, and power. I try to attack every play. I may be playing defence, but I'm not in a defensive frame of mind or position. I'm not just watching and waiting for them to do something. They are waiting and responding to me while reclined.
Miller is confident that he will succeed in his endeavours in due time
According to Miller, "they can stop me — out of 60 plays, they can stop me 55 times. And those five [other] plays, I could score sacks on all five of those plays, and it could be one of my best games. . . . I tried to reach the quarterback the entire game. They were eager to stop me, too. And I win if I make it there.
Miller might not see 60 plays every game, which is the issue. According to Peter King, who visited the Bills for his Football Morning in America column, coach Sean McDermott may be inclined to rest Miller in some games to keep him healthy as late as possible. If the Bills get a sizable lead and the opposition begins to throw the ball more frequently, Miller won't be happy if he isn't on the field.
After all, that is when the defence should pull their figurative "ears back" and truly launch an attack.
