No date is not met; after a long wait, finally, Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin will see each other again in the ring. But if you were not attentive to this pair of gladiators' history, we will leave you all the details of their two previous fights and arrive ready for the appointment on September 17, 2022.
The first time the Mexican and the Kazakh met in the ring was on September 16, 2017.
The first fight was shrouded in controversy, resulting in a split decision draw. Even though for many experts the victory pointed to Golovkin, the judges divided opinions; one saw the Kazakh win, another gave his decision for Canelo, and another decided to qualify with a draw.
The rematch came a year later, on September 15, 2018, at the same venue as the first fight. Again the performance of the judges was critical; Canelo was the winner by majority decision since two of the judges saw him as the winner, while the other scored a draw.
The two fights have turned out to be power-to-power duels, and although Golovkin has landed more blows, the results have not favored him, as the statistics presented by Compubox show.
The third fight between Canelo vs. Golovkin will take place this Saturday, September 17, at the T-Mobile in Las Vegas, Nevada. The function starts at 7:00 p.m., but it is contemplated that the clash between the Mexican and the Kazakh will take place around 10:00 p.m.
