When Bill Belichick says or acts anything to recommend that he is upset by the questions asked during his numerous press conferences, I often say that he should go coach lacrosse if he doesn’t want to answer the media covering pro football. And be paid accordingly.
Might be he will.
Professional Lacrosse League co-founder Paul Rabil said Bill Belichick is showing interest and willingness in coaching the PLL when he ends coaching the Patriots in the Pardon My Take podcast. And Paul Rabil was not kidding about it; he was serious.
Seen lurking in the photo from a Birmingham Detroit Country Day lacrosse practice in the 1970s, Bill Belichick would be considering it as interesting career advancement. This indicates that Bill Belichick doesn’t seem willing to resign from the Patriots and the money he has paid for the team to be coached.
Some people suggested Bill Belichick will take an executive role (possibly with equity) with an NFL team when he has completed coaching the Patriots. But is there a possibility that a coach will ever pause coaching? Consider this line from Paul Rabil.
Paul Rabil said, “When I met him for the first time, he came to a [Johns] Hopkins practice.” “He was mutherfucking us up and down around when he entered the locker room like our stick work and six-on-six possession. . . . He only instructs a room.”
He indeed instructs a room. He indeed likes lacrosse. He is undoubtedly not in need of the money. It would definitely be fantastic if Belichick trades football for lacrosse. And it would definitely make an effort to do much to raise lacrosse from the rank of fringe curiosity up to the mainstream American sport.
