Changes in caddies can positively or negatively impact a career, but it appears that Will Zalatoris required around one round to build trust with seasoned looper Joel Stock.
Zalatoris started the FedEx St. Jude Championship with a 1-over 71, which included two bogeys and a double bogey. Zalatoris was ranked No. 12 in the season rankings. "The worst luck I believe I've had in my whole professional career," he said of the round.
But not a good beginning.

On Saturday night, the 25-year-old star was tied for third place after shooting an 11-under 199.
Reporter: "What occurred on Thursday?"
I did not, Joel; please read any putts," said Zalatoris. "It's been a great little run. Yesterday, I made him start reading the putts. Even though we have been nearby all year, having that assurance there has been quite beneficial the last several days.
Zalatoris has recorded rounds of 63 and 65 over the last 36 holes, with 13 birdies to only one bogey. He starts Sunday in the running once more. He has the opportunity to win on the PGA Tour for the first time once more.
Without a victory, Zalatoris leads the Tour with eight top-10 finishes. His mental approach may have changed since those competitions, as the Wake Forest product claimed on Friday that he had broken out of his self-described "rut" and has begun to improve, going to be more aggressive this week with his goals.
Perhaps he only needed to switch caddies to reframe his thinking and recommit to the current goal.
Zalatoris claimed, "I played on the most significant stages in the majors, and I felt at ease in those settings. I haven't yet experienced a victory. We will eventually, and perhaps tomorrow it will be.
