With Game 4 on Tuesday night in Dallas, the Warriors have a seemingly impossible in the final 3-0 head place in the Western Conference condition of gold has proven to be a tough matchup for Dallas due to its relentless off-ball movement and abundance of shot creation.
The Mavericks made the most of what they had all season defensively — a lot of good defenders but not outstanding ones — by getting everyone to play on a string, rotating quickly, and taking away what the opposing team wanted to do (as they did with midrange shots against Phoenix Luka Doncic had yet another outstanding offensive performance, scoring 40 points on 11-of-23 shooting and going to the free-throw line 17 times.
Doncic put up an exceptional performance. Wiggins made him work for it once more, but Doncic is a scoring machine. However, as the series progressed, Doncic's defensive flaws — worsened by the Warriors' attempts to put him through his paces — have become a more significant issue for Dallas.
He's one of the Mavericks' defenders that can't keep up with his opponent.
Dallas got 26 points from the bench from Spencer Dinwiddie and 20 points from Jalen Brunson. Dallas's problem was that players outside of the big three of Doncic, Brunson, and Dinwiddie combined for 14 points on 5-of-28 shooting.
