Trubisky admitted on Tuesday
Getting the offense going has been a major topic of discussion among Steelers fans this week, and many of those discussions have centered on taking more shots downfield.
There are other aspects of the offense that are missing as well. Additionally, offensive coordinator Matt Canada's offensive plan limited Mitch Trubisky's ability to switch plays at the line of scrimmage.
Trubisky admitted on Tuesday that there are instances in which "I'd like to get into a new play at the line of scrimmage," and Canada claimed that since Ben Roethlisberger left the team to be replaced by Trubisky, the latitude to switch plays has been curtailed.
Kenny Pickett
Canada stated, via Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, "We're evolving to it, too." "[You have] a player who has played for 18 years and a newcomer surrounded by young guys. We are gradually preparing for that. We are preparing for that because we are not yet where we want to be.
If the Steelers' offense doesn't improve, louder adjustments will be demanded, and Kenny Pickett might be the quarterback doubting his ability to audible before the play. If the problems persist throughout the season, Pittsburgh may also look to hire a new coordinator, so it's imperative for everyone to get into a better routine in Week Three and beyond.
