THE NEW YORK While the tunnels for cars and people are being built, Belmont Park will have its fall meet at Aqueduct. These tunnels will provide access to the 45-acre infield of the track.
According to the New York Racing Association, the 28-day "Belmont at the Big A" meet starts on September 15 and lasts until October 30. The distance between the two tracks is 9 miles (14.4 km).
The main dirt track and its two grass courses will be rebuilt, according to NYRA, which will also give "the option to consider the installation of a synthetic track in the future."
Following the conclusion of its 2023 spring-summer meet, reconstruction will start, according to the NYRA, which anticipates that training will restart in April.
The quarter-mile pony track on the site will have a synthetic surface as part of the project. It will offer a year-round training alternative and knowledge on how an artificial surface functions in Belmont's all-season climate. The project should be finished in September.
