The Houston Gamblers defensive end has now received the USFL's first-ever Defensive Player of the Year award in recognition of his achievements.

Odom, a 27-year-old former Arkansas State player, was a vital component of the ruthless Gambler's defense, which led the league in forced fumbles (14) and sacks (2) and tied for first in interceptions (13). (26).

These figures primarily resulted from the 6-4, 260-pound Odom, who dominated the USFL in both sacks (12.5) and forced fumbles (six). No other player finished the season with more than nine sacks or three forced fumbles.
