Running back, Darius Victor, one of the individuals responsible for the Generals' success, says, "Life feels nice when you're winning." "I'm playing games I love with my squad; that's all a man can aspire for."
Jersey had a 26-25 lead as called a timeout last Sunday night, giving the Generals their fifth straight win.
The General RB is a battering ram on the field, standing 5'8′′ and weighing 209 pounds with 30-inch quads (yep, you read it correctly...30 inches). He now leads the league in running touchdowns (five) and rushing yards (fourth) (365).
Victor recounts the game-winning play with a laugh. "Thick thighs save lives." "I had to use them and force him [Perez] into the end zone."
It's difficult to imagine the suffering Darius Victor has gone from as far as where he is now, given his light-hearted manner and self-described silly mentality.
"Darius Victor said that he didn't want to be here. Victor was born in a refugee camp in Africa's Ivory Coast in 1994, following his parents, Gary and Patricia, who left the first Liberian Civil War. He is among seven children (4 brothers and two sisters).
"Have you ever seen the film Blood Diamond?" says the narrator. "That's the atmosphere I was born into," Victor says.
The Victor family arrived in the United States in 1999 and resided in Manassas, Virginia, until 2002, when they moved to Hyattsville, Maryland.
Gary and Patrica worked extremely hard to provide for their family after leaving everything behind. While their parents struggled to make ends meet, all seven Victor siblings — Velma, Earl, Kevin, Darius, Leon, Shaka, and Nicole — started to look out for one another.
I assisted with homework, ensuring that everyone would be fed, and participating in events. Football was that activity for Kevin and Darius in particular.
Rivalry between siblings
Victor says, "My older brother Kevin became my style icon growing up." "Ipractices soccer with him, and he was rather excellent." He was a legend at the Boys and Girls Club. I had to strive with him during everything I did, and I desired to outperform him in every way. So I began playing football and made every effort to beat him possessing that position model to look up to is what made me fall in love with the game."
The two, who were four years in length, began playing football at Northwestern High School. It all happened in December 2011, when Kevin was diagnosed with cancer.
Two, who were four years age different, began playing soccer at Northwestern High School, polishing each other on and off the field with their competitive personalities.
Everything happened in December 2011, as Kevin was shot and died while going home from the community center after playing sports with friends - just one block from his family's apartment.
"It's insane to lose a loved one and a sibling," Victor remarked. "It was difficult, but it brought us closer together as a family." Because Kevin had always been rough on me, it pushed me to work that much harder. Kevin would permanently straighten me out if something didn't go my way on the practice field when we were kids." Always be prepared.
Victor only participated in league matches during his final year of university due to a toe injury. Victor was invited to the New York Jets rookie minicamp, and the New Orleans Saints preseason camp.
