For the sixth consecutive year, America's Best Racing has issued a challenge to some of the best handicappers in the industry to select their top three picks for significant races every weekend, beginning with the Breeders' Cup World Championships in 2022 and continuing through the Triple Crown in 2022. In what we refer to as the "Big Race Showdown," the handicappers square off.
A running bankroll will be maintained to track the players' performance throughout the year, and their picks will be recorded here. The calculation of bankrolls will be based on $2 exacta and $2 trifecta box bets on each player's top three choices.
The player who correctly predicts the most wins will also be noted.
Your participants for the 2022 Big Race Showdown season are Jessica Paquette (Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, analyst for Colonial Downs and Sam Houston Race Park), John Piassek (Handicapper and Writer, America's Best Racing), Louis Rabaut (Handicapper and Host, Horse Racing), Ashley Mailloux (Project Lead, 1/ST Racing), and I. D. Hatter (In the Money Media Analyst, Meadowlands On-Air Host).
The $400,000 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes for fillies and mares at Del Mar offers an automatic bid to the Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff, and the $1 million Whitney Stakes, a "Win and You're In" qualifier for the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic at Keeneland Race Course, offers the victor a spot in the Classic starting gate on November 5. These races make up this week's Big Race Showdown. The Whitney Stakes will be broadcast live on NBC from 5 to 6 p.m. ET as part of the Challenge Series lineup on that network brought to you by America's Best Racing. TVG will broadcast The Clement Hirsch as a part of its in-depth Del Mar coverage.
