Katinka Hosszu, a Hungarian swimming great attempting to win her 100th big global meet medal this summer, has reportedly stated that she will not compete in the 2024 Olympics.
According to Forbes, Hosszu, 33, claimed she and her partner are hoping to have a kid, making the Paris Sports an improbable match.
Between the Olympics (four medals), global league titles, European Championships, brief globe championships, and European short-course championships, Hosszu has 96 medals. Relatively brief contests in 25-meter pools instead of the 50-meter pools used for Olympic and world championship events.
Hosszu, the four-time title holder in the 200m and 400m singular events, will compete in his native world in Budapest starting next week. In an individual event, no swimmer has ever won five world titles. The title competition will be between Hosszu and Katie Ledecky. In August, Hosszu could compete for prizes at the European Championships.
Hosszu won the 100-meter backstroke and won the individual medleys in Rio 2016. She finished sixth and seventh in the IMs in Tokyo, her fifth Games.
Hosszu, who also clinched the 400m IM at the 2009 Worlds, is the only female swimmer to win five aggregate major championships in an individual event. Michael Phelps is the only man diver to win five major championships in a single event.
