The preferred access deadline was announced on Tuesday evening. Late entries are accepted for a charge until Sunday. Next week, the best swimmers at the trials in Greensboro, N.C., will qualify for the arena championships in Budapest in June.
The United States of America Swimming classifications: WOMEN | MEN Manuel, a five-time Olympic medallist, was expected to retire following the Tokyo Games. In June, she revealed at the Olympic Trials that she had been diagnosed with overtraining syndrome and had dealt with melancholy, anxiety, and insomnia in the previous spring. A health professional told her that she needed to take months off if she wanted to make the Olympic crew. Manuel has not stated publicly whether or not she intends to compete again. Manuel, 25, was a member of the final Olympic, global championships, and Pan Pacific Championships crews.
The 2000 Olympic Trials could be the first time Lochte missed a trial meet for which he was eligible. Schmitt, a 10-time Olympic medalist, has stopped openly stating whether or not she will be able to compete again. After the 2016 Rio Olympics, she took almost a year off. Adrian, 33, an eight-time Olympic medalist, admitted he had no idea what became next for him in the sport after missing out on the Tokyo Olympic crew by one spot in the 50m.
